Reputation Leaders CEO Laurence Evans Joins DeVry University’s CEO Roundtable

Laurence Evans

CEO, Reputation Leaders

Reputation Leaders CEO Laurence EvansI’m reflecting on last week’s outstanding DeVry University’s CEO Roundtable, “Stuck in Growth Gridlock: Inside the Silent Standoff Holding Back Talent Development.”

What struck me most from DeVry’s latest research is the complacency among workers regarding the need to upgrade their future job skills amid a hiring downturn, an AI revolution, and a volatile economy.

It began with a striking disconnect: while 69% of US employers say their workforce lacks the skills needed for the future, 85% of employees believe they are already adequately prepared.

There is real money at stake for employers too – U.S. companies in 2023 spent nearly $900 billion to replace employees who quit, and 42% of that turnover was preventable

I would also like to extend my thanks to Elise Awwad, CEO of DeVry University, and Dave Barnett, Chief Administrative Officer, as well as to fellow panelists Nichol Bradford and Patty Carl, for their valuable insights on durable skills development, the role of AI, and the importance of trust-based learning cultures within organizations.
